There is a line on the official fiche of the Bosch DBB97AM60 that almost nobody reads: grease filtering efficiency, 90.2%. Among the twenty Bosch and Siemens hood fiches we compared for our buying guide, it is the highest figure in the group. The last one in the row stops at 60.9%.
Two lines above sits the energy efficiency class: B. We at PortosEunostos started here, because the DBB97AM60 is the only 90 cm Bosch hood built into a wall unit that OpportunityCommerce has ready for immediate delivery (658.63 euro on 20 October 2026), and because that letter tells the least important part of the story. The rest is told by the decibels and by a 332.25 euro accessory.
The fiche in six lines

90.2% is the line that matters
Grease filtering efficiency tells you how much of the grease suspended in the steam stays in the metal filter, measured to EN 61591. What does not stay ends up on your wall units, on the tiles and inside the duct: it is the figure that decides whether your kitchen wipes clean with a cloth or has to be degreased at the end of the season.
Watch the letter next to it, though, because here the classification does not help: in our sample 90.2%, 89.3% and 85.3% all fall into grease filtering class B. The letter does not separate five percentage points of grease, the percentage does.
Why it says B, and what it costs in decibels
The declared 64.7 kWh per year are worth 28.10 euro of electricity at the ARERA tariff for the fourth quarter of 2026. The comparison that explains the letter is with its stablemate: the DBB97DP60, same width and same installation type, has 105 W of motors instead of 250, uses 27.2 kWh (11.81 euro) and sits in class A+. In exchange it moves 433 m³/h instead of 460 and lights the hob with 437 lux instead of 517. The B is not a design flaw: it is the bill for the extra air and the extra light, sixteen euro and twenty-nine cents a year.
The real price, though, is in decibels: 63 against 57, and on a logarithmic scale six decibels are roughly four times the sound energy, not ten per cent more. Where the DBB97AM60 does not disappoint is pressure, 420 Pa at the best efficiency point, the second highest value in our sample: that is the reserve you need when the duct is long or has bends, which is almost always.
Recirculation costs at least 332.25 euro more
The Bosch manual is explicit: the appliance leaves the factory set to duct air outside, and running it on recirculation needs an extra accessory on top of the odour filter. The spec sheet lists three compatible kits (DWZ1IX1C6, DWZ1IT1D1, DWZ1IX1B6): on OpportunityCommerce the first two cost 332.25 and 679.68 euro, both to order. The recirculating version therefore starts at 990.88 euro, 50% above the listed price.
The good news is the yield: with the Clean Air Plus kit Bosch declares 451 m³/h against 460, less than 2% of the airflow lost, and 67 dB against 63. In our guide we found models that lose up to 39.6% on recirculation: on this front the DBB97AM60 is among the most honest in the catalogue.
Where it fits, and where it does not
The recess is 340 x 860 x 300 mm, a fixed figure: you need a 90 cm wall unit and there is no way around it. It also suits units without a bottom panel, with the supplied spacers for depths up to 360 mm, and you can store up to 10 kg per side on top of the hood. The glass front switches the fan and the light on as you open it.
Minimum distances are 650 mm from a gas hob and 430 mm from an electric one. The outlet is 150 mm, reducible to 120: the manual warns that long, rough ducts with many bends reduce extraction and increase fan noise. The non-return valve and the Schuko plug are supplied, so no dedicated power line is needed.
Strengths and limits
90.2% grease filtering, the highest of the twenty fiches we compared.
460 m³/h in normal use and 420 Pa of pressure: it copes with real ducts.
517 lux from three lights at 3,500 K, lighting efficiency class A.
Metal filters that can also go in the dishwasher, up to 70 °C, rather than being thrown away.
The limits, with the same honesty:
63 dB in normal use and 73 on the intensive setting: six decibels more than the DBB97DP60, which also costs less.
Class B and 64.7 kWh a year, more than twice the same DBB97DP60.
No filter saturation indicator on a 658 euro hood, and no Home Connect or automatic power sensor, which the DP60 has.
The LEDs are not user replaceable: the manual leaves them to customer service or an authorised electrician.
Bosch declares two different intervals for cleaning the grease filter: «only once a month» on the commercial spec sheet, «every 2 months» in the user manual.
Who we recommend it to, and who we do not
We recommend it to anyone who fries often and has worked out that the problem is not half an hour of smell but the grease on the wall units; to anyone who already has the 90 cm unit and a duct to the outside; to anyone who wants it now, because it is the only one of its sisters in stock.
We do not recommend it to anyone with a kitchen open onto the living room who is wary of noise; to anyone buying by energy class; to anyone without an external outlet who does not want to add the kit; to anyone with a 60 cm wall unit, because the 860 mm recess is not negotiable.
The alternatives in the catalogue
| Model | Price | Class | Grease | Max airflow | Max dB | Lux | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DBB97AM60, 90 cm | 658.63 € | B, 64.7 kWh | 90.2% | 460 m³/h | 63 | 517 | in stock |
| DBB97DP60, 90 cm | 630.89 € | A+, 27.2 kWh | 85.3% | 433 m³/h | 57 | 437 | from November 2026 |
| DBB93BC60, 90 cm | 318.20 € | D, 56.1 kWh | 89.3% | 384 m³/h | 65 | 290 | 15 / 20 days |
It has to be said in full: the DBB97DP60 costs 27.74 euro less, uses less than half the energy, is 6 dB quieter and has Wi-Fi, but it arrives in November and filters five points less grease. The DBB93BC60 halves the price while keeping 89.3% filtering, and pays with a fluid dynamic efficiency of 9.4 against 27.6. If your wall unit is 60 cm, the same fiche as the DP60 is found on the DBB67DP60 at 573.25 euro.
PortosEunostos advice
Read grease filtering as a percentage and the airflow at the best efficiency point, not the cubic metres of the intensive setting that fill the catalogues.
If you go for recirculation, add the kit to the price straight away, and remember that the carbon filter is a recurring spare, not a one-off purchase.
Put the filter cleaning in your calendar: with no saturation light you have to remember it yourself, and the manual warns that grease deposits can catch fire.
Check the seller the way you check the product, and look at the promotion dates: a Siemens in our sample went from 583.93 to 661.78 euro the day after its offer expired.
The Portos choice
The DBB97AM60 is not the most efficient hood in the Bosch catalogue, and it is right that it is not: it is the one that moves the most air and filters the most grease among those built into a wall unit, and it pays for that with six decibels and a letter on the label. If you really cook, with an open pan over a high flame, 28.10 euro of electricity a year is the lowest cost in your kitchen and 90.2% filtering is an investment in your furniture. If instead you need the hood for the steam from a pot of pasta, the DBB97DP60 costs less, uses less than half the energy and is quieter: November is worth the wait.
